W.TEC Holds 7th Edition of Early Innovators 2023 Camp in Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria – 27th September, 2023:
The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre – W.TEC recently held its Early Innovators Camps for Kids (girls & boys) in Lagos Nigeria. The tech camp is for kids between the ages of 5 – 10 years, were held in Ikeja in August 7 – 18, 2023.
The EARLY INNOVATORS CAMP is an initiative aimed at helping girls & boys develop an early interest in STEAM disciplines (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths) and nurturing their interest as they move into related higher educational, entrepreneurial and career journeys. This year 2023 Early Innovators Camp is the 7th edition of its kind. The camps subsequently concluded with graduation ceremonies after a 2-week tech fun learning experience alongside other extra-curricular exercises.
For the two-week duration of the camp, 14 kids participated in tech workshops which also featured numerous co – curricular activities (including, Self Defence, Team Building and Health wellbeing).
THE CAMP SESSIONS
The following topics were taught at the camp:
- Robotics & Automobile
- Animation & Game-design
- Team building
- Science project
- Creative arts & Craft
- Game activities.
The long-term goal of the camps is to spark and awaken the ICT talents of participants for an early stage, giving them a good start to having a perfect understanding of new technologies as they proceed with their education.
The sponsors of this year’s camps are Kiddies Kingdom Private School Lagos, and numerous kind individuals.
THE GRADUATION CEREMONY
The Early Innovators Camp ended up with a graduation ceremony on Friday, August 18th, 2023. The event took place at the camp venue (KIDDIES KINGDON PRIVATE SCHOOL) which commenced at 11am and came to an end at 1pm. The event brought together the camp participants, their parents and friends.
During the graduation, the participants had the chance to showcase the project that they built in the cause of the camp which comprises of different Robotics Projects, Scratch Projects, Creative Art Projects and Science Projects.
Prizes and certificates were given out to all participants during graduation ceremonies of Lagos camp in appreciation of their hard work.
