Know someone's age but not their exact birthday? Enter their current age to find what year they were born.

More Than Just Years

Most age calculators stop at years, months and days. This one goes further: total days lived, total weeks, total hours, total minutes, and a leap year count. The numbers become interesting quickly — a 25-year-old has lived approximately 9,125 days, 219,000 hours, and over 13 million minutes.

Zodiac Sign

Your zodiac sign (Western astrology) is determined by your birth date and shown automatically alongside your age results. Aries runs from March 21, Taurus from April 20, and so on through the 12 signs.

Leap Years Lived

The calculator counts how many leap years (years with a February 29th) have occurred between your birth year and the calculation date. This is useful for trivia, and it is the reason why calculating exact ages using a simple 365-days-per-year formula gives slightly wrong results — leap years add an extra day every four years.

Find Birth Year from Age

The reverse calculator works the other way: if you know someone's current age but not their exact birthday, enter the age and it gives the two possible birth years (since the birth year depends on whether their birthday has already passed this year).

Calculate Age on Any Date

The "Calculate Age At" field defaults to today but can be changed to any date — past or future. This is useful for calculating how old someone was on a specific historical date, or how old they will be on a future date such as a retirement date or school entry date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Age is calculated in full calendar years, then remaining complete months, then remaining days. For example, from January 15 to April 10 is 2 months and 26 days (not 3 months). Days are calculated using the actual number of days in each month, so the result accounts for February having 28 or 29 days and months having 30 or 31 days. This matches how age is calculated legally and medically.
In non-leap years, your birthday does not exist on the calendar. Most countries and legal systems treat March 1 as your official birthday in non-leap years, though some use February 28. The calculator uses March 1 in non-leap years for the birthday countdown. Your age still increments correctly each year.
Your age in years is a whole number that increases on your birthday. Your total time lived is continuous — it is the exact number of days, hours and minutes since you were born. Someone who turned 25 yesterday has an age of 25 but has lived exactly 25 years and 1 day. Both values are shown: the age breakdown (years, months, days) and the total time lived (total days, weeks, hours, minutes).
Western zodiac signs are based on the position of the sun at birth, which corresponds to your birth date range. Aries: March 21–April 19. Taurus: April 20–May 20. Gemini: May 21–June 20. Cancer: June 21–July 22. Leo: July 23–August 22. Virgo: August 23–September 22. Libra: September 23–October 22. Scorpio: October 23–November 21. Sagittarius: November 22–December 21. Capricorn: December 22–January 19. Aquarius: January 20–February 18. Pisces: February 19–March 20.
Yes. Set the "Calculate Age At" date to the eligibility date — for example a school admission date, voting date, or pension date — and enter the person's date of birth. The result shows the exact age on that date, which you can use to verify whether they meet the minimum age requirement.
