W.TEC Marks 15th Anniversary

March 11th 2023

Lagos, Nigeria

On this special day, we are proud to share our accomplishments with all of our friends, supporters, partners, participants, and alumnae who have contributed significantly to W.TEC’s 15-year streak of success in closing the gender gap in technology.

We believe that your unwavering commitment to our cause will grow in leaps and bounds until we finally achieve a society in which women and girls have full access to all their seats at the table.

Over the last 15 years, our work has benefited over 43,384 women, girls, boys, and young people with special needs in Nigeria and across Africa. In addition, we’ve inspired 86% of our alumni to consider a career in technology. The following is pulled from our Executive Director’s (Oreoluwa Lesi) anniversary statement:

“We have worked with 43,384 girls, boys, women, teachers and young people with special needs. Our beneficiaries are working as computer scientists, software developers, medical doctors, systems analysts, computer engineers, biomedical scientists, cybersecurity professionals, intellectual property lawyers and vloggers. Our alumnae are also entrepreneurs, artists, fashion designers, hairdressers who are using technology creatively in their work”.

That said we look forward to working with all our friends and supporters to charting a new course for our women and girls, towards improving their participation in government, technology, corporate-management and policy making. By this we believe a new society will emerge which efficiently caters for all and grows from strength to strength.

Lastly, we wish to thank all of you for your support over the last 15 years and we invite to walk with us as we move ahead over the next 15 years of glory.
We pray that may the Almighty God bless and honour you always. Amen

Thank you

Warm regards from all of us at the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC).
