W.TEC MentorHER Webinar Series Part 3 Features Ommo Clark

Proper and adequate guidance when choosing a career path has saved individuals from making wrong decisions or going into a professional sectors without essential information. As a means to propagate the career opportunities in STEM, the Women’s Technology Empowerment Center (W.TEC) via her MentorHer programme organized her January webinar themed:  Careers in Software Development.
The monthly webinar which is the third edition for MentorHer 2020/2021 session was held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. The guest speaker at the online event and the Chief Executive Officer, iBez Consulting, Ommo Clark, gave a detailed and insightful presentation on Careers in Software Development.
Ommo Clark introduced software development as a booming career sector further fuelled by an increasing reliance on digital technologies. She explained the need for software developers in organizations and the various job opportunities in the sector.
Ommo explained the career pathways in the sector by using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) which include: Planning, Requirements Analysis, System Design, Coding, Testing and Maintenance and Support.
Participants were also enlightened on the qualities required to be a Software Developer, which are – Logical thinking skills, Analytic Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Attention to details skills, amongst others. The areas of skill gap in the sector were also taught.
The event ended with a question and answer session followed by a feedback session with the participants. This webinar helps foster more collaboration with the W.TEC MentorHer Mentor, Mentees and other interested individuals as the event is open to the public.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
