Meet Our Event Speakers At AfricaNXT 2022 (W.TEC)

We are so excited to be joined by a group of talented and empowering speakers for our upcoming event; Conquering Poverty With Tech: Women & The Next Decade at the 2022 AfricaNXT Conference in Lagos. Thus its our pleasure to introduce to you our esteemed panelist who will be exploring the opportunities of empowering women and girls with tech to grow the economy.

 

Ommo Clark, CEO – iBez

My Profile – “Ommo Clark is founder of iBez, a Software Company that specialises in web/software development, SEO, training, and advisory services. Ommo brings a wealth of expertise to the software development industry; she is a qualified IT Practitioner with many years of experience in software development, a Global Women Entrepreneurs Initiative (GWEI) 2015 Fellow of The Ivan Allen College, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, a Digital Auditor certified by the International Trade Centre (an agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organisation) and is ISO9001 qualified. She has worked for various local and international organisations in the areas of Program Management, Application Support, Release Management, Business Analysis, System Design, Application Testing, Change Management, and Vendor Management. Some of her previous roles include Chief Operating Officer with an International Trade firm in Lagos, Nigeria, Head of Projects Delivery Support at Soft Solutions Ltd (Enterpriseware), Lagos, Nigeria, Project Manager leading the software development team in developing banking applications at Kaupthing Singer Friedlander, London, UK (an Icelandic Investment Bank), Team Leader, E Trading, leading the web and support teams responsible for online mortgage origination, products development and application support services at the Mortgage Capital Division of the Investment Bank Lehman Brothers, London, UK and Application Support Consultant at Real Asset Management, Orpington, UK (a software house).

Ommo is a member of the Institute of Software Professionals of Nigeria) ISPON) and the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), and a mentor at Founder Institute Lagos. She is an Alumna of Brunel University UK with a MSc in Information Systems and London Guildhall University UK with a BA in Business Admin. She is passionate about using digital technologies to grow and improve businesses and closing the digital divide in emerging communities.

 

Samuel Odeleye,  Head of IT/Data manager – BroadOaks British Scchool

Samuel Odeleye is a successful professional educator with a wealth of transferable skills and experience gained in the education and IT sector for about 20 years. He has a huge passion for youth development and growth. He is a graduate of Mathematics with postgraduate degree in Information Technology and postgraduate diploma certificate in education and professional certifications from Microsoft. He produced the best ICT student in Lagos state, Nigeria in 2007, produced the second-best Microsoft certified office Specialist (MOS) in the world in 2014. He Supported Ekiti state government in training teachers in the application of ICT in teaching 21st century students.

In addition, he led 24 teenagers and two other adults (the team Nigeria) to RoboRAVE Robotics and programming competition in the United States in May 2018.

Samuel Odeleye is the founder of Roboton Robotics Academy and Teachers without borders (created to teach and support less privileged children in Africa during the COVID-19 outbreak).

He’s been a consistent facilitator at the yearly W.TEC summer camp for girls (SheCreates Camp) since the inception of the camp in 2008 till date.

He believes young adults should be allowed to explore and enjoy independent learning, particularly using hands-on approaches that encourage team work, creativity, critical thinking and productivity that prepares them for the future jobs.

He has a great passion for teaching Mathematics, programming and robotics.

Samuel Odeleye is an indigene of Ekiti state, south west Nigeria. 

 

Mary Abiodun, Business Lead – StrikingCVs

Mary Abiodun is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Colibri Africa, where young Africans are connected with opportunities to become virtual assistants. She is also the Business Lead at StrikingCVs, helping students, graduates and young professionals to rightly position themselves in the job market and access better job opportunities. Mary Abiodun is also the founder and Principal Consultant at Marykeen Consulting Services, a business and educational consulting firm. Through her consulting services, and her writing and editing skills, many graduates have gained admission and gotten scholarship opportunities to study in prestigious universities abroad and she is still on a mission to help many more. Businesses have also benefitted from her advisory services for recruitment and operations. She has a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Education from the University of Lagos, where she also bagged her first degree in same course. She is an alumni of the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology for Software Entrepreneurship and has a strong passion for youth development and capacity building. On many occasions, she has been a mentor and trainer at different technology programs and trainings for kids, youths and women.

 

Maryam Abdulsalam, Programmes Manager – W.TEC (Moderator)

Maryam coordinates and manage the W.TEC Academy (an afterschool technology club for girls in secondary school) in Kwara and Ogun State, the MentorHer Programme (a mentoring programme designed for female STEM undergraduates) and the SHE CAN with ICT programme (a programme designed for business women and inspiring business women on how to technology to promote their business and increase the income), she is also responsible for managing team, and fund for these programmes. She is involved with Monitoring and evaluation of W.TEC programmes and oversees the W.TEC Alumnae Follow-up programme to track the progress of our alumnae.

Maryam has a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc) in Sociology from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. She also has a Master’s degree in Sociology (M.Sc) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Kaduna State, and Certificate in Nonprofits Leadership and Management from Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos Business School, Nigeria.

Before joining W-TEC, Maryam worked as a program officer at the Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and Society for Family Health (SFH). Maryam brings to the organisation her years of experience in programme implementation with NGOs.
