Meet W.TEC's New Admin Officer

My name is Isioma Chukwu. I joined W.TEC in November 2021 as an Administrative/Finance Officer. My Job includes recording of all transactions (income & expense) of all W.TEC accounts, ensuring bank and petty cash transactions are recorded on a daily basis, filing and storing of documents, ensure running of office replenishment, maintenance of all office equipment amongst others.

Technically, my first day was uneventful as the staff were not present in the office that day, I met the Executive Director, Mrs Ore and she gave me a tour round the office, took me through the handbook as well as what my job entails. On my second day at work it was a full house, I met almost everyone. Even though I was almost nervous about joining a new work team and how I would fit in, one thing was certain, everyone was welcoming.

I settled in and started my training with my predecessor as she was supposed to put me through since she was moving onto another role. She also made the transition very easy for me and always assured me that it might look cumbersome at first glance but I would definitely get the hang of it. Aside from my previous experience in administrative role, I noticed that this role was going to be one I would not forget in a hurry and a role I would enjoy especially because I get to learn and develop a new work experience which is the Finance part of my JD. I started with so much expectation to learn new things and also make use of what I have learnt in the past on this job.

The good news is, I am settling in faster than I even thought I would and most importantly with this new job, I am part of an amazing group of people who are making positive and great change in impacting ICT knowledge in the lives of several young girls. I mean who wouldn’t want to be part of positive change in the society!
