FATI ABUBAKAR IS W.TEC’S #WCW

Our #WCW this week is a Nigerian photojournalist, documentary photographer nurse and a humanitarian worker from Borno state. Her Instagram project @bitsofborno is a unique page which showcases the reality of life in some parts of Nigeria many won’t go for a while. Her work has been published in The New York Times, CNN Africa, BBC and Voice of America.

Raised in Maiduguri, Borno state’s capital, her decision to tell untold narratives of her hometown in constructive ideals, through the eyes of a camera has helped the world see the real outcome of the place. After her Master’s Degree in Public Health and Health Promotion, at the South Bank University, London in 2015, Fati, upon her return back to her hometown, where she took up photography.

Fati is our #wcw this week for her courageous work in sharing the plight of Nigerian women in challenged parts of Maiduguri. We are proud of her work and we look forward to having more women like her who would share more insights to the plight of women in the country.
